Ostara recipes
Bacon-Swiss Quiche Ingredients:
1 (9-inch) deep-dish pie crust in tin 12 slices bacon 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese 4 eggs, beaten 1 1/2 cups half-and-half 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon white sugar 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
Place bacon in a large skillet, and fry over medium-high heat until crisp.
Drain on paper towels, then chop coarsely. Sprinkle bacon and cheese into pastry shell.
In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, cream, salt, sugar and cayenne pepper. Pour mixture into pastry shell.
Bake 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Reduce heat to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C), and bake an additional 30 minutes, or until a knife inserted 1 inch from edge comes out clean. Allow quiche to sit 10 minutes before cutting into wedges.
Irish Stew
4 to 6 servings
1 1/2 lbs Lamb, cut into cubes
3/4 cup sliced onion
2 sliced carrots
2.5 Lbs potatoes … sliced or cubed
Put in bottom of a heavy pan a layer of potatoes , a layer of meat , and a few slices of onion …repeat twice , ending with potatoes on top …season each layer with salt and pepper … add to the pot … 1 bay leaf … pour over the layers : 2 cups boiling stock or water … and two tbs. finely chopped parsley …
Bring to the boil… cover …. simmer gently for 2.5 hours or until meat is tender … Shake pot from time to time to keep potatoes from sticking to the bottom … when done moisture should have been absorbed by the potatoes.
You can also bake in a moderate oven…just watch it closely. Nice served with fresh green beans / or frozen peas and squash.
Custard Pie
1/2 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust 6 eggs 1 cup white sugar 2 cups milk 1 pinch salt 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1. Beat eggs with a whisk. Beat in sugar, milk, and salt. Pour filling into pie crust. Sprinkle nutmeg and cinnamon on top. 2. Bake at 425 degrees F for 15 minutes. 3. Reduce heat to 350 degrees F, and continue baking for an additional 45 minutes.

Making brews
you really ought not use tap water. you should use spring water or distilled. Heat about two cups of water to boiling. Place herbs into another container then pour the water over the herbs. Cover witha lid. Let the herbs brew for 13 minutes then strain. Use as quick as possible
Natural oils
Use a base oil. Any kind works.
As for making the oils, the easiest is the Cold Method, in which you mix equal parts dried herbs and oil together in a jar and let it sit in a cool, dark place for 4-6 weeks (shaking the jar daily.) After that time, you strain the oil into a new jar and store it the same way (the Sun's UV rays break down the oil.)
With the Hot Method, you have two choices: stove top or oven. Oven is preferred, as it makes a higher quality (i.e. medicinal quality) Oil. Preferably, have your herbs powdered down, mix them and the oil together in an oven safe dish that you have a secure fitting lid for. Bake in your oven, at its lowest heat setting, for 6 hours or so. Once it is cool enough to touch, strain the oil into a jar with a tight fitting lid and store in a cool, dark place.
For stove top, just heat the oil and herb mix together in a non-aluminum pan until you start to smell the herbs. Remove from heat and strain into jar
How to make your own bath salts
3 parts Epsom salt
2 parts baking soda
1 part table salt
Mix thoroughly. Always add food coloring to bath salts. Add essential oil drop by drop at a time until it smells right to you. Mix until all salt is moistened.
Wiccan children
You see all these public and catholic schools. They all base their faith on Jesus. Why has no one come up with a pagan school? Where the pagan community can comfortably send their children and know they won't be harassed or lectured its the wrong path you need Jesus speeches? Not enough pagan are speaking up. we need to stick together and hold our ground! We need to quit hiding. How do we expect people to accept us if we keep it secret, stay in hiding? We will accomplish nothing doing this.

Cleansing the home
I felt the need to cleanse my home and was dreading doing it with my two year old home with me. I seen him as a distraction, but it turned out different. He wanted to help. I opened the circle and called in Brigid. When we meditated he sat silently. We walked around the house I sprinkled salt and smudged every doorway and window saying my blessing. Then I let my son hold the smudge stick and in every room I had him repeat goddess protect me. It turned out way better than I expected and my son had a blast.

Wedding
We found a place set a date and decided to combine handfasting. In pagan traditions they use a cord to bind the two together at the wrists. We plan on doing this instead of the unity candle. Family members won't ask too many questions why about it because it symbolizes the same thing. Wedding is Oct 19th 2013 at the melody banquet hall. Plenty of space for the ceremony and reception with dancing and it cost under a grand!
